Let’s Rally for Ross
Each and every day I walk into Ross Local Schools I’m filled with a sense of pride that I get to work in this district. As an administrator, I feel blessed to put my talents and efforts toward a district that has strong values, a passion for educating their children, and for working together to maintain a community that is beneficial to us all. From our history of academic excellence to our focus on providing personal attention to the growth of each and every one of our students, Ross is a place where our kids prepare themselves for what lies ahead in the story of their life. That is the very core of what we do and what Ross is all about.
While we experience success in our district, as an administrator it is my job to always be on the lookout for how we can improve things we do and what we provide to children and parents. As the school year wraps up at the end of May, I write to tell you that our team and School Board are reviewing what potential additional funding for Ross Local School District could do to improve our service and prepare us for the future.
What kind of things are we looking for we when talk about additional funding? There are a few items that stand out. They include adding additional curricular opportunities for students at all grade levels with the focus of college and career preparedness, which includes developing student internships programs. In the modern world of constantly improving technology, it is imperative that we look to find ways to implement that same technology into our classes and into the classrooms. We want to maintain our technical and maintenance support of our District’s 1:1 initiative. In order to give each student the personal focus that makes our district successful, we are looking at the potential of increasing staff to improve our gifted education, special education, and professional development opportunities. And finally, in light of recent security concerns when it comes to our schools around the country, the potential for additional funding would allow the school district to make necessary safety improvements to our facilities and staffing. We would also bring back full service bussing for grades 9-12.
These are just a few of the ideas that we have discussed as it pertains to potential additional funding. In our minds, as an administration and as a Board, this is by no means a one-way conversation. We want to hear directly from you when it comes to your vision and your ideas for what you want the future of Ross Local School District to look like. With that being said, we will be hosting a number of opportunities to engage in open, public information and input sessions. Throughout the summer months there will be multiple opportunities for you to voice your opinions and get more information as it pertains to potential additional funding before we move forward with anything concrete. Below is a schedule of when our public information and input sessions will take place. I encourage you to attend and come ready with your thoughts. Thank you, and let’s all come together and Rally for Ross!
